David earned his Bachelor of Arts degree with majors in Psychology and English from Muskingum University. Following graduation, he entered the nonprofit sector as a fundraiser. Over the next 10 years he worked for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, the American Diabetes Association, and Saint Leo University.
In 1998, he completed a Master of Science degree in management and leadership at National-Louis University. His area of concentration was organizational change and his thesis, “An Assessment of the Behavioral Characteristics of College Presidents who Exhibit Transformational Leadership Performance,” sought to understand how transformational leaders successfully enact organizational change.
David joined Ketchum, Inc. as a consultant in 2000 where he provided planning study and capital campaign management services to clients in the higher education, hospital, independent school, and social service sectors. Following promotion to Senior Consultant in 2005, David developed specialized research skills in conducting development audits that led to his role as the organizations subject matter expert. David served as Vice President of Consulting Services from 2009 through early 2012, serving more than 100 nonprofit organizations.
Currently, David is the President of Knightsbridge Creative Services LLC, a company he founded to provide an outlet to practice both of his passions, fundraising and genealogy. He has been a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) since 2002 and is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and the Association of Professional Genealogists.
I began researching my family history in the sixth grade when my social studies teacher offered it as a choice for our independent study project. When I announced this at dinner, my parents blankly looked at each other and told me to go see my grandmother. Grandmother was delighted, pulling out an old family Bible that had printed pages for family events that had been carefully filled in by her and her mother. Over the semester, we worked backward through time until we discovered our emigrating ancestor came from Holland. At the time, I’m sure I didn’t fully appreciate the gift she was giving me, but am now grateful beyond measure.
